Pets – Several million dogs and cats are put to death in U.S. animal shelters each year. Spay and neuter programs are having some impact in some areas, but solving the overpopulation problem tests the resources of activists and animal-control officials. (Audio, from NPR).

This is like an audio version of those ASPCA shows on Animal Planet! Although they don't mention that hoarding is actually a mental problem...similar to kleptomania. Overall a great message though! More people need to be aware of this issue... it is amazing that even with all the spay and neuter campaigns out there some people, still, either just don't get it or choose to ignore it!
